‘I stepped up my game’

Chinle student earns top honors at AZ science fair

Chinle Junior High School’s Emily Staley shared her passion for cleaner energy during the Arizona State Science and Engineering Fair earlier this month and it earned her first place in the environmental science category.

Staley, an eighth-grader, presented on a research topic that highlighted the benefits of switching to solar energy rather than relying of fossil fuels. her project was called “Solar Energy.”

“I think solar panels and other renewable resources would be a better outlet for a greener and healthier future for our planet,” Staley said she wanted to get the message out to her generation that this type of energy needs to be used more often.”
