Kite-making project promotes parent-child interaction at KDLO

A gym filled with kids, paint, newspapers, soil and water may sound chaotic, but for Ganado Elementary, it meant the start of planting season for the Green Hornet’s Garden Club.

If a public hearing last week in Dilkon is any indication, parents, teachers and school administrators may be starting to warm up to the idea of the tribe taking over the Bureau of Indian Education schools on the Navajo Nation.

For some students, it’s a relief to spell 10 words right, but for fourth grader Mikaele Curley he was shocked he spelled 1,000 sight words with zero mistakes.

Students from Hopi High School want to take their journalism skills on the road, and possibly gain a few along the way.
