Juanita Williams

GREASEWOOD SPRINGS, Ariz. — Funeral services for Juanita Williams, 68, of Greasewood, Arizona, will be held Friday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. (DST) at Our Lady of the Rosary in Greasewood Springs, with Brother Paul O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow in Greasewood.

Juanita was born Nov. 1, 1950, in Ganado, Arizona, into the Kinlichíi’nii (Red House People Clan), born for Tótsohnii (Big Water Clan). She passed away Aug. 5, 2019, in Gallup. Juanita attended Kinlichee Boarding School, Wingate High School, Shiprock High School, and the University of New Mexico-Gallup.

She worked at Mother Goose Learning Center and Richardson’s Trading Post. She loved the outdoors, animals, cutting hair, and taking care of others. Juanita is survived by her brothers, Ross (Charlotte) Williams and George (Priscilla) Long; and sisters, Mary Jane Begay, Kathy (Howard) Joe, Betty Jo (Andy) Bahe, DeeAnn (Jorge) Leal, Shirley Williams, Matilda (Darryle) Dickie, Caroline (Ernest) Antonio, Bertha (Benny) Ben, Lorena (Joe Lee) Jim, and Charlene Brown.

Juanita is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Barbara Williams; brothers, Gilbert Williams and Chester Williams; and grandmother, Jane Pete. Pallbearers will be Jared Leal, Nathan Williams, Ike Dickie, Dylan Leal, and Delvin Long. Honorary pallbearers will be Ross Williams, George Long, Howard Joe, Jorge Leal, Ernest Antonio, Benny Ben, Darryle Dickie, and Joe Lee Jim. A reception will take place at the Greasewood Chapter House, following services. Summit Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
