Kandy Goodluck-Jones

LUPTON, Ariz. — Funeral services for Kandy Goodluck-Jones, 50, will be held Saturday, March 14, at the Latter Day Saints Church in Lupton, Ariz.

Burial will follow at the Jones family plot in Lupton.

Kandy was born June 12, 1964, in Los Angeles, Calif., into the Naakai dine’é (Mexican Clan), born for Tódich’ii’nii (Bitter Water Clan).

She died March 8, 2015, in Albuquerque.

Kandy graduated from Window Rock High School and attended Central New Mexico Community College where she received two associate degrees.

She worked as a nurse assistant in Farmington, Gallup and Phoenix.

She enjoyed collecting Native American relics and antiques, and was a member of the Navajo Nation Band.

Kandy is survived by her husband, Ray Shorty; daughters, Johnnie Goodluck-Jones and Ashley Shorty; son, Grant Shorty; parents, Harry and Rose Jones; sisters, Tomiko Chamberlain, Rachelle G.

Jones and Roqueeta R. Jones; granddaughter, Jalyn Marie Chappell; and seven nieces and four nephews.

Kandy is preceded in death by her daughter, Angel Ray Shorty; and paternal and maternal grandparents.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Rubina Uskilith (Sanchez)

KLAGETOH, Ariz. — Funeral services for Rubina Uskilith (Sanchez), 70, were held March 7 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Klagetoh, Ariz.

Interment followed at the Wide Ruins community cemetery in Wide Ruins, Ariz.

Rubina was born July 13, 1944, into the Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People Clan), born for Ma’ii deeshgiizhinii (Coyote Pass Clan).

She died Feb. 27, 2015.

Rubina is survived by her son, Dennis Fire-Thunder Jr. of Long Beach, Calif.

Rubina is preceded in death by her parents, Lily Roan Chester of Tanner Springs, Ariz., and John Guy Uskilith of Round Rock, Ariz.

Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
