Roland Jack Arviso

CROWNPOINT — Funeral services for Roland Jack Arviso, 54, of Crownpoint, will be held today, Jan. 15, at 10 a.m. at the St. Paul Catholic Parish Church in Crownpoint, with Father Al officiating.

Roland was born June 27, 1960, in Crownpoint, into the T‡chii’nii (Red Running Into the Water People Clan), born for Tl’‡‡shchi’i (The Red Bottom People Clan). He died Jan. 3, 2015, in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Roland graduated from Crownpoint High School and studied at the University of New Mexico. He was a builder with Keller Services in Lewiston, Pa. He enjoyed spending time with his daughters, fishing, playing basketball, and watching the Broncos.

Roland is survived by his daughters, Lindsay Rae Estevan and Loren Nelson Estevan, both of Englewood, Colo.; father, Robert Jack Arviso Sr. of Crownpoint; brothers, Robert Jules Arviso Jr. of Bloomfield, N.M., Aaron Arviso and Ron Robert Arviso, both of Crownpoint; and sisters, Roberta Arviso of Springfield, Mass., Rolanda Arviso of Albuquerque, Audrey Arviso of Farmington, and Rayne Arviso of Claremore, Okla.

Roland is preceded in death by his mother, Annie Becenti Arviso of Standing Rock, N.M.; son, Kenneth Jack Arviso of Englewood; paternal grandparents, Jack and Velma Arviso of Crownpoint; and maternal grandparents, Mike and Lillian Becenti of Standing Rock.

Pallbearers will be Robert Arviso Jr., Aaron Arviso, Lionel Arviso, Ron Arviso, Anthony Arviso, and Joshua Tenequer.

A reception will take place at the St. Paul Catholic Parish Hall following services.

Linda Ann Carroll

FORT DEFIANCE — Funeral services for Linda Ann Carroll, 45, of Sawmill, Ariz., were held Jan. 10 at the Fort Defiance Catholic Church. Interment followed at the Fort Defiance cemetery.

Linda was born July 22, 1969, in Fort Defiance, into the T‡baah‡ (Water’s Edge Clan), born for Hon‡gh‡ahnii (One-walks-around Clan). She died Dec. 30, 2014, in Gallup.

Linda graduated from Many Farms High School and was employed as a housekeeper at motels. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, sewing, reading, taking long walks, joking, and helping with ceremonies.

Linda is survived by her son, Antonio Carroll; daughter, Ashley Ann Carroll; mother, Dorothy Anna Wood; brothers, Brian Yellowfeather and Melvin James; and sisters, Marlene James, Laura Carroll, Leonardine Carroll, and Andreanna Wood.

Linda is preceded in death by Leonard Carroll, Oscar Tsosie Carroll, Justin Eric Steven, Grace Nez Sam, Marilyn James, Robert Henry Jr., and Randy Henry.

Pallbearers were Antonio Carroll, Jesse Flores, Marcos Flores Jr., Lathem Eskeets, Lionel Eskeets, and Micheal James.

Honorary pallbearers were Melvin James, Marcos Flores Sr., Lonnie Eskeets, Henderson Joe, and Darrell Begay.

Silver Creek Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Ida Mae Lee

ST. MICHAELS, Ariz. — Funeral services for Ida Mae Lee, 76, of Burntwater, Ariz., were held Jan. 8 at the St. Michaels Catholic Church in St. Michaels, Ariz., with Father Patrick Schafer officiating. Interment and a reception followed in Fort Defiance.

Ida was born Feb. 19, 1938, in Houck, Ariz., into the Kiyaa’aanii (Towering House Clan), born for T‡baah‡ (Water’s Edge Clan). She died Jan. 1, 2015, in Fort Defiance.

Ida attended Catholic Church Indian School in Houck, and was later transferred to St. Michaels Indian School. She worked at St. Mary’s in Gallup, Retail Indian Ruins in Cedar Point, Ariz., Kmart in Gallup and Seattle, Wash., CETA Chapter House in Houck, and Mattel in Los Angeles, Calif. She loved traveling, cooking for visitors, taking walks, and enjoyed family and friends.

Ida is survived by her son, Gilbert R. Lee of Burntwater; daughters, Sylvia J. Lee of Fort Defiance, and Irama J. Cly of Seattle; and 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Ida is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin R. Lee; son, Gary R. Lee; daughters, Angela Lee and Orlinda Lee; four brothers and three sisters.

Pallbearers were Brandon B. Lee, Gilbert R. Lee, Zackeus J. Lee, Taylor H. Billie, Thomas White, and Wilbert Begay.

Honorary pallbearers were Eric L. Tso, Aaron L. Tso, Phillip R. Wilson, and Micheal Yazzie.

Johnnie C. Harold

TORREON, N.M. — Funeral services for Johnnie C. Harold, 80, of Torreon, N.M., were held Jan. 10 at the Navajo Mission Church in Torreon, with Jason Carpenter officiating. Interment followed at the family plot.

Johnnie was born into the Ute Tribe and passed away Jan. 5, 2015, in Torreon.

Johnnie attended Intermountain School and Haskell Indian College in Lawrence, Kan. He was employed with Union Pacific, Cuba Schools as a bus driver, and Sandoval County worker. He enjoyed riding horses, tending to his cows, being around his grandchildren, working on cars and houses, and telling jokes.

Johnnie is survived by his sons, Donald Harold and Stanley Harold; daughters, Sandra Harold and Sarah Perea; sisters, Betty H. Yazzie and Sherley Sandoval; and six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Johnnie is preceded in death by his wife, Marie S. Harold; mother, Ruth Harold; uncle and two aunts.

Pallbearers were Eloy Perea, Roland Perea, Harold Perea Jr., Aaron Rafael, Symore Nez, and Sybert Nez.

Honorary pallbearers were Donald Harold, Stanley Harold and Roy Yazzie.

Irvin Murial Cambridge

ST. MICHAELS, Ariz. — Funeral services for Irvin Murial Cambridge, 51, of Window Rock, were held Jan. 9 at the Window Rock Ward LDS Church in St. Michaels, Ariz., with Alistair Young officiating. Interment and a reception followed in St. Michaels.

Irvin was born Nov. 29, 1963, in Gallup, into the Bit’ahnii (His Sheaves Leaf Clan/Under His Cover Clan), born for Tsenabahilnii (Sleep Rock People Clan). He died Dec. 31, 2014, in Window Rock.

Irvin attended Haskell Indian College in Lawrence, Kan., and was employed with the Navajo Tribe as an accounting technician.

Irvin is survived by his brother, Norman Cambridge Sr.; sister, Barbara Wilson; paternal grandparents, Lewis and Ada Cambridge of Toadlena, N.M.; and maternal grandparents, Frank and Mamie Harpen Tsinijinni of Klagetoh, Ariz.

Irvin is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Helen Harper Cambridge; and brother, Herman Cambridge.

Pallbearers were Norman Cambridge II, Harley Cambridge, Kelly Cambridge, Micah Cambridge, Luke Cambridge, and Isiah Cambridge.

Honorary pallbearers were Norman Cambridge Sr., Charles Wilson Jr. and Christian Wilson.

Herman Mitchell

CORTEZ, Colo. – Funeral services for Herman Mitchell, 64, of Aneth, Utah, were held Jan. 7 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel in Cortez, Colo., with Father Pat Valdez officiating.

Herman was born Oct. 29, 1950, in Chinle, to Herbert Mitchell Sr. and Adella Begay. He passed away Jan. 1, 2015, at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Herman is survived by his wife, Loretta (Harvey) Mitchell of Aneth and Salt Lake City; mother, Adella Mitchell of Many Farms, Ariz.; children, Crystalene Roberts and husband Darren of Aneth, Heather-Dawn Mitchell and Norman Balchinclowing of Salt Lake City, Jerrimiah Cody Mitchell, Diondra Lynn Mitchell, and Jherripheena Reanne Mitchell, all of Salt Lake City; siblings, Loretta Guthrie of Salt Lake City, Dale Mitchell of Old Valley Store, Ariz., Bobby Mitchell of Many Farms, Dean Mitchell of Old Valley Store, Georgia Mitchell of Old Valley Store, Judy Mitchell of Annandale, Va., Eddison Mitchell of Old Valley Store, Jennifer Mitchell of Old Valley Store, and Anna Scott of Old Valley; and four grandchildren.

Herman is preceded in death by his father, Herbert Mitchell Sr.; and brothers, Herbert Mitchell Jr. and George Mitchell.
