Behind four freshmen, two sophomores and one junior, the Window Rock girls cross country team captured its second consecutive team title for the 2026 season.
The Lady Scouts netted the team crown during the Peaks Invitational in the Ascent varsity race two weeks ago. On Saturday, Window Rock added the Canyon De Chelly title as the Scouts packed five runners in the top 15 for a team score of 45 points.
Coconino came in a distant second with 72 markers with Chinle taking third at 73 points.
“The season is very young, but they have a lot of potential,” Window Rock coach Arileauna Davis said of her youthful squad. “We’ve had two meets so far, and we won both, so the future looks good.”
