TOHATCHI, N.M.
A win is a win.
That is exactly how the Tohatchi football team is logging in last Friday’s 12-8 triumph over Crownpoint as the Cougars remain in the hunt for the District 1-2A crown.
“It’s an ugly win, but we got it,” Tohatchi coach Todd Bitsilly said.
The Cougars (4-3) finished with 13 penalties for 115 yards, and they turned over the ball seven times against the upset-minded Eagles, which suited only 19 players for Friday’s contest.
“Clearly, we shot ourselves in the foot, and I think it was us getting too excited on certain plays,” Bitsilly said of their penalties. “We’ve got to be disciplined and that’s my fault as a coach. I have to reiterate about how costly penalties can hurt us and I got to be tougher on that.”
