President Buu Nygren responded Saturday to the removal resolution introduced against him and Vice President Richelle Montoya, accusing Speaker Crystalyne Curley of pursuing a deliberate effort to take control of the Navajo Nation’s highest office.

One day after a resolution was introduced to remove both President Buu Nygren and Vice President Richelle Montoya from office, Montoya released a statement describing deep internal fractures within the Nygren Administration and asserting she had no role in the decisions now under scrutiny.

President Buu Nygren was formally served Friday with an ethics complaint outlining four counts of alleged violations of Navajo Nation law, marking a new stage in the case filed by Special Prosecutor Kyle T. Nayback.
