Arizona State University student Tatum Collins and Northern Arizona University senior Emily Beyale have been named to the 2026 Southwest Native American Foundation Scholars cohort.
Collins is an undergraduate student studying political science and environmental science with a minor in American Indian studies at ASU. Her academic work focuses on tribal sovereignty, natural resource stewardship, environmental justice and Native leadership.
She completed research internships with NAU and The Nature Conservancy examining water quality, environmental health, ecological restoration and Indigenous-led conservation. On campus, Collins is involved with the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES), the Pre-Law Society and the Alliance of Indigenous Peoples.
“I hope to continue combining environmental research, policy and Indigenous perspectives to support tribal communities and advance Indigenous-led stewardship,” Collins said.
