Obituaries for Oct. 25, 2018

Clifton Team

ST. MICHAELS, Ariz. — Funeral services for Clifton Team, 37, of Rough Rock, Arizona, will be held today, Oct. 25, at 9 a.m. at the Summit Funeral Home in St. Michaels, Arizona, with Paul Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Chilchinbito, Arizona.

Clifton was born Aug. 6, 1981, in Fort Defiance, into the Tó’áhaní (Near the Water Clan), born for Áshiihí (Salt People Clan). He passed away Oct. 20, 2018, in Flagstaff. Clifton graduated from high school and was a certified carpenter/mechanic and pipeliner. He was employed with Harpole Construction and TRC.

Clifton enjoyed fishing, traveling, working on his truck, spending time with his children, and loved the Georgia Bulldogs and Steelers. Clifton is survived by his sons, Leighton Team, Clifton Team Jr., and Clayton Team; daughter, Kourtynie Team; mother, Shirley Blueeyes; brothers, Eli Scott and Daren Team; sister, Crystal Tso; and grandmother, Mary James Benally.

Clifton is preceded in death by Danny Team and Clinton Team. Pallbearers will be Eli Scott, Jonathan Tso, Terry Benally, Pete Benally, Gilbert Scott, and Daren Team. Honorary pallbearers will be Shirley Blueeyes, Leighton Team, Clayton Team, Clifton Team Jr., and Kourtynie Team. Summit Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Edward Mike

FISH POINT, Ariz. — Funeral services for Edward Mike, 86, of Fish Point, Arizona, were held Oct. 23 at the Black Mountain Mission Church in Fish Point, with Daniel Smiley officiating. Interment followed at the family plot.

Edward was born July 4, 1932, in Blue Gap, Arizona, into the Ma’ii deeshgiizhinii (Coyote Pass Clan), born for Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan). He passed away Oct. 17, 2018, in Chinle. Edward enjoyed silversmith work, taking care of his livestock, helping his community, and his favorite pastime was reading his Bible.

Edward is survived by his son, David B. Mike of Black Mountain; daughters, Ladina Sam of Many Farms, Arizona, Lola Bronston of Phoenix, Flo Anspach of Pinetop, Arizona, Verna J. Begaye of Black Mountain, Lena Summers of Black Mountain, Anna Mike of Gallup, and Martha Charley of Black Mountain; brothers, Kee Yazzie Begaye and Mike Lee Begaye; sisters, Jeanette Francis, Debbie Blueeyes, and Alenia Segaye; and 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Edward is preceded in death by his wife, Hazel B. Mike; brothers, Kee Mike and David Mike; granddaughter, Tamara F. Charley; and grandson, Isaac Summers. Tse Bonito Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Leroy Tom Hoskie

HOUCK, Ariz. — Funeral services for Leroy Tom Hoskie, 57, of Sanders, Arizona, were held Oct. 22 at the Good News Mission Church in Houck, Arizona, with Eugene Chee officiating. Interment followed at the Houck cemetery.

Leroy was born Jan. 9, 1961, in Gallup, into the Honágháahnii (One-walks-around Clan), born for Kinlichíi’nii (Red House People Clan). He passed away Oct. 11, 2018, in Salt Lake City. Leroy graduated from Valley High School in 1980 and served in the Army for three years followed by an honorable discharge on April 11, 1986.

Leroy enjoyed watching NFL, hanging out with friends, spending time with family, and listening to classic 80s and 90s rock. Leroy is survived by his wife, Marlene Ross; sons, Nikki Hoskie, Rikki Hoskie, Rodney Hoskie, Derrick Hoskie, Erick Hoskie, and Tommy Ross; daughter, Samatha Iashie; brothers, Bertram Hoskie, Junior Jones, Ferlin Hoskie, Johnathan Hoskie, and Herman Hoskie; sisters, Matilda Hoskie, Silva Riley, and Loretta Cheney; and 10 grandchildren. Leroy is preceded in death by his mother, Virgina Fatty; father, John Hoskie; Marjorie Hoskie and Jasper Hoskie.

Pallbearers were Shaun Hoskie, Christopher Hoskie, Bertram Hoskie, Gibson Cheney Jr., Nathan Dawes, and Tony Dawes. Honorary pallbearers were Nikki Hoskie, Rikki Hoskie, Rodney Hoskie, Derrick Hoskie, Erick Hoskie, and Tommy Ross. Silver Creek Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
