Last week the Division of Economic Development shared an ambitious proposal with the Naabik’iyati’ Committee to direct approximately half of the estimated $1.8 billion in American Rescue Plan Act relief funds, expected to arrive on Navajo in May, to projects for economic expansion and recovery.

Former Navajo Nation Council Delegate Nelson BeGaye passed away Thursday morning.
BeGaye was in his fifth term with the current 24th Navajo Nation Council but resigned in July 2019 due to health concerns.

On Tuesday, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed into law Senate Bill 304, legislation that changes the way New Mexico draws voting districts.
The companion bills included a provision that allowed voting districts to be smaller than how the state normally divides them up, which in turn would allow consideration for Navajo chapter boundaries.
