Speaker Seth Damon’s appointees to the Navajo Nation Council Standing Committees were approved through legislation today, but not without some fireworks over some of the choices he made.

Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez said, “Whether or not he misspoke at the prayer breakfast, we have an obligation as the leaders of the largest American Indian tribe to stand up and protect our civil rights as the first people of this country,”

It wasn’t a pressing matter for the Navajo Nation Council to hear the priority lists from Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer.
