Ganado science fair revs kids’ engines

Navajo Middle School students, from Navajo, New Mexico, have lots to report about their field trip to the state capital on American Indian Day.

Shawna Yellowhair, a sophomore at the University of New Mexico-Gallup campus, was recently named a semifinalist for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.

In 2011, Jolene Smith was ready to retire. She had been teaching elementary school for 27 years.
