The Farmington girls’ basketball team has been looking for that big win.

The district season reached its midway point on Thursday night in District 1-3A girls’ basketball and with the league’s top seed at stake the focus centered on the Crownpoint and Tohatchi contest.

Having coached the girls’ basketball team to a state title game, longtime Rock Point coach Melvin Arthur wants to do the same for the boys’ program.

Before meeting the top-seeded team in the state, the Piedra Vista High girls’ basketball team vowed to walk onto their home court unbeaten.

Hosting Navajo Prep in its second District 1-3A game, the Wingate boys’ basketball team followed the game plan to near perfection.
